lestari jonathan: Sahabat yg terkasih, Selamat pagi. Tema renungan pagi ini: KASIH ITU MERESPONS DENGAN BENAR

Bacaan:Yakobus 1:19-25
Nats: … setiap orang hendaklah cepat untuk mendengar, tetapi lambat untuk berkata-kata, dan juga lambat untuk marah ….(Yak. 1:19)

Jika sedang marah, mengapa orang mesti berteriak? Padahal jarak dengan lawan bicaranya sangat dekat. Tidak pernah saya jumpai orang marah dengan berbisik. Pasti dan selalu berteriak, seolah-olah lawan bicaranya tidak mendengar. Ada sebuah alasan yang mendasar sehingga orang marah selalu berteriak, yaitu hatinya jauh. Ketika hati jauh, maka telinga juga akan tertutup. Karena itulah, orang marah selalu berteriak.

Mungkin hari-hari ini marah menjadi bagian yang tidak pernah absen dalam hidup kita. Sering kali kita berpikir bahwa kemarahan disebabkan oleh situasi yang tidak mengenakkan hati kita. Benarkah demikian?

Sering kali bukan situasi yang membuat kita marah, tetapi respons kita pada situasi itu yang berlebihan. Surat Yakobus menasihati kita untuk menjadi pendengar yang baik (ay. 19). Itu berarti merespons situasi yang kita dengar secara tepat. Sesudah itu, Yakobus menasihati kita untuk menjadi pelaku Firman dan bukan hanya pendengar (ay. 21-22). Respons yang jauh lebih tepat tidak bisa hanya diolah dengan perasaan kita sendiri, tetapi harus dikaitkan dengan Firman Tuhan.

Belajar merespons situasi sekeliling kita dengan Firman yang pernah kita dengar menjadi panggilan kita sebagai murid Kristus. Sekali lagi, kemarahan sering kali terjadi bukan karena situasinya, tetapi karena respons kita yang tidak tepat. Respons yang berlebihan itulah yang menjadikan kemarahan itu tidak mendatangkan kebenaran dan sia-sia belaka.

John Ortberg pernah berkata: “Kehidupan rohani bukanlah kehidupan yang terpisah dari kehidupan finansial, kehidupan pekerjaan, kehidupan keluarga, dan lain-lain. Istilah kehidupan rohani hanyalah sebuah cara untuk membicarakan kehidupan seseorang dalam setiap saat dan setiap seginya dari perspektif Tuhan. Tuhan tidak tertarik pada bagaimana Anda berdoa, bergereja, atau membaca Alkitab lebih teratur saja. Tuhan tertarik pada hidup Anda.” Hidup yang benar seharusnya hidup yang utuh bukan sekadar aktivitas yang terpisah-pisah.

Hidup yang utuh diungkapkan Yesus dengan sebuah panggilan pelayanan untuk semua orang tanpa kecuali. Pelayanan menjadi ukuran dari kehidupan yang diinginkan Allah dalam Yesus Kristus.

Kata “hendaklah” di ayat 43 dan 44 lebih tepat diterjemahkan “harus.” Yesus mengajukan syarat yang konkret. Ingin menjadi besar, harus menjadi pelayan. Ingin menjadi terkemuka, harus menjadi hamba.

Persoalannya, kita sering kali tidak seimbang. Kita sering kali hanya berada pada sisi “ingin” dan melupakan sisi “harus.” Yesus sendiri menunjukkan kepada kita, Ia memilih menjadi Hamba yang disalibkan.

Banyak orang hidup dengan kehidupan yang tidak utuh. Ketika di gereja menjadi sangat Kristen, sebaliknya ketika di rumah dan tempat kerja menjadi sama sekali tidak Kristen. Hiduplah dalam sikap melayani di mana pun kita berada.
